Matthew's Childrens Book 3/8

Fox in Socks

By Dr. Seuss

Dr.  Suess books are fantastic; they all have engaging fun story lines and are designed to teach children how to read and pronunciation. Fox in Socks is no exception; the funny illustrations and the charming text bring the story to life. The narrative follows two characters Mr. Fox and Mr. Knox, Mr. Fox is a persistent quizzical fox who attempts to get Mr. Knox to do a long line of ridiculous tasks. Mr. Knox is not enjoying Mr. Fox’s games at all, but puts up with it until eventually he’d had enough and walked away. It’s a simple plot, but one that introduces children to the idea of saying no in situations they don’t want to be in.

  1. I loved Dr. Seuess books as a kid! I think you have summarised all of the reasons why they are so great Matt. The illustrations are easily recognisable to any adult who read these books as a child I'm sure! And as you say they stories are always fun and engaging for kids. It's great that you have pointed out these books are a fantastic tool to assist children in developing accurate pronunciation.

  2. I agree with you both Dr Seuess are fantastic books which have the ability to truly engage children. I especially love the illustrations which are so bright and unique, they are really memorable. I also enjoy the rhyming element which is present throughout Seuess work as I think it not only helps with pronunciation but also makes reading a more enjoyable experience for many children.
